What is it?

A snippet

Children learn best when they are doing when learning is meaningful and authentic. Whether in school or at home (or on holiday) learning experiences are all around us! This journal is inspired by just that, taking curriculum elements and putting them in a meaningful context. Going on holiday, why not record the temperature? Find out about the place you are visiting. Look at maps, flags, different features, the food you try, how you travel, and much, MUCH more! The book demonstrates all the skills you will be acquiring whilst away and is a lovely record of your holiday experiences that your children can look back on, and show to their family and friends!

Vision

As a Mum of two, I know the importance of providing experiences, what better way for our children to learn from the world around them than by experiencing it for themselves?

The first journal (the only one currently available to buy) is created for children 8+ but that's not to say younger children can't use it - though the plan is to make another for our littlies!) However, I had two children ready and waiting to go on holiday to try the book, their favourite part by far was the games, as they suggested! There are no answer pages provided for the games, it is all aimed at children doing their research and problem-solving (as an adult I find it all too easy to look for the answers at the back of a book!)

The book is whatever you make of it, it is aimed at your holiday, which made designing it a problem-solving situation in itself. We went to Turkey and could use the world map, but not the map of Europe. However, this opened up a HUGE conversation about the map of Europe, resulting in a lot of learning.
