Phonics: Reading and Spelling
Reading and spelling is more than just phonics and phonological awareness, and together we will look at how to support your child in a way that suits them best. That means looking at barriers/difficulties with phonological awareness and phonics, and helping them using a fun, multisensory approach that best suits their needs! This is where I come in!
How can I help?
When phonics was first introduced to me I found it puzzling, it was like it had a different language of its own. I then started teaching a group of children who found reading and spelling difficult, there were various barriers and challenges but the common point was phonological awareness and phonics through a fun, multisensory approach was needed.
Learning to read and spell needed to revolve around the child, what they enjoyed learning styles (visual? auditory? kinaesthetic?) and what they found difficult. By tapping into these three things children can make progress and overcome their barriers to reading and spelling.
It is important to note that progress looks different for everyone, it is a journey and as grown-ups we can even make the journey long and arduous or....... short, fun and interesting!
